Lynne Haeffner Bio

Welcome! My name is Lynne Haeffner and I coordinate activities and teach enrichment classes within the Home School Assistance Program (HSAP) in the Mt. Pleasant Community School District. Working with families that home school is exciting and very enjoyable. Our goal is to provide families with the support they need through our curriculum library, our enrichment classes, field trips and our individual visits with each family. I am passionate about teaching reading and have enjoyed my career teaching children and teachers about the reading process.

 

In 1992, I graduated from Teikyo Westmar University and began teaching in Ft. Madison, Iowa that fall. I taught Title I Reading for two years and then was trained in Reading Recovery in 1994-1995. I continued teaching in these two specialty areas through 2001, when I became the Curriculum Director for the Danville Community School District. Following three years of being the curriculum director, I became a Reading Consultant for Great Prairie Area Education Agency. In 2000, I received my Master of Arts in Education, with a K-12 Reading Specialist endorsement, from Viterbo University. I have also had the privilege of being an adjunct professor in the education department at Iowa Wesleyan College. I have been teaching in the Mt. Pleasant district since the fall of 2007.

 

When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and traveling. We have two adult children and one in high school and live outside of Danville.
